Our group aims
to provide a fun and supportive environment in which to grow as
writers. Joining us will give you access to useful
feedback on your work and allow you to share in the work of
others. Alongside our monthly meetings we offer guest speakers and occasional outings
with other keen writers to attend readings and workshops.
We aim to cater for
a variety of different writing interests. Our activities
cover poetry, short stories, articles and novel writing.
We are keen to
share our work. Members have:
- been
placed in poetry and short story competitions;
- had work broadcast by the BBC;
- had work published in various anthologies, including the Arts Council publication 'Pushing Out The Boat';
- had work published in newspapers and national magazines;
- given public readings of their work at Wordfringe 2008;
- participated in Wordfringe 2009 (event held at
Woodend Barn entitled 'And Loud Flows the Dee');
- been shortlisted for prestigious awards such as the
Asham Award, and have won prizes in national competitions;
- been winners of Scottish Association of Writers
trophies in five different categories.
